Road Trip!

We headed out one cold January morning.

We had no plans.
No agenda.
No appointments.
Just the open road and 3700+ songs on our iPod.

After 10 hours and quite the car-jam-session, we arrived in a place they call Las Vegas where the buildings are larger than life, money grows on trees, and everybody wants a room upgrade.

And yes, since we took a vacation by ourselves, you will see lots of these self photos.
{this is my disclaimer}

We were high rollers, as you can see from our .25 cent video poker.
{Holla}

We enjoyed life of the "high roller" by walking around the huge casinos and enjoying delicious food that left us hungry again after about 13 minutes.

So we found some real food.
There was some country dancing somewhere in there as well.
And no, I didn't eat all of this by myself.
We split our meals.
Especially when it's a meal that consists of a half of a chicken.

And of course, we had to go to the happiest place on earth!
{Disneyland was later...I'm talking about In-N-Out}
{God bless In-N-Out}

After our fill of burgers and animal style fries
{yeah, you know what I'm talking about}
We headed south.
We headed to a place that holds the key to Chris' heart.
Los Angeles.
{I'm seeing a theme here...Las vegas, Los Angeles...what's with all the spanish? I mean, I know I took 5 years of it in school and Chris lived in Mexico for a while...}

The key to Chris' heart can be found here.
At the Staples Center.

Where the Los Angeles Lakers play.
He was in heaven.

Seriously.
It was holy.
Kobe was there.
The Lakers won.
And it was New Years Eve.

Yeah, we made out at midnight.
Then we went to the other happiest place on earth besides In-N-Out...
Disneyland!

Remember my "head shot" disclaimer?
It still applies.

We may have peed our pants a little on Tower of Terror.
Don't judge.
You would pee too.

And yes, we took a picture of the TV screen that had our picture from the ride on it.
Don't judge.
You would do that too.

Disclaimer #2:
Star Wars in 3D is really cool, but we wouldn't advise eating prior to the ride.

Minnie, Goofy and Aladdin say hi.
We didn't see Mickey.
All the kids were hogging him.
{jerks}

After a great stay in LA and San Diego, we headed back up north!
But not before Chris played a Christian song that he wrote in a dive bar in LA.

Then we were in the car.
Again.

We were in pursuit of Chris' other passion besides Kobe.
Golf.

We made some friends on the course.
Meet Wendell and Bob.
They were awesome.
And by awesome, I mean way better than the cheesy grease head chain smokers that we almost got paired up with.
God bless Wendell and Bob.
And God bless golfing in 75 degree weather.

After one last trip to In-N-Out,

we headed towards home!

We made it back to Fort St. safe and sound.
Jack was very happy to see us!

Welcome to 2012!

It's beginning to look a lot like our 2nd Christmas...

Welp,
*It's our 2nd Christmas together!*
{We are almost like pros...kind of}
*It's the most wonderful time of the year!*
And when it's the most wonderful time of the year, you know what that means...
DECORATING!!!!
***************************
{don't judge}

And now, for your viewing pleasure...
{or at least mine for the time I look back on our blog to reminisce on the 'good ole' days}

I give you:
The Majors' Christmas at Fort St!
{du-du-du-duuuunnnnnn!}

Here is my hunk of a husband putting the final touches on our tree!

Centerpieces make my heart and my new table happy...

Thank you to all of our friends who sent Christmas cards!
They are being displayed proudly.
{yes, we brag about how awesome our friends are}

Ummm, I'm not sure what all of this stuff is, but I liked it sooooo, whatever...

Even branches need ornaments.
{No lie, this is Chris' favorite tree}

DIY - a cone Christmas tree!

Just in case we need to remember what letter our last name starts with...

There is a lot of kissing at Fort St. <3

The glorious tree de' Majors
{our tree is kind of chubby this year}

{And yes, that's a fat joke}

If we had chestnuts, they would be roasting on our open fire.
And no, the little stocking is not a hint.
It's Jacksons.
He loves Christmas.

Jackson clearly LOVES Christmas...

 See, he LOVES it...
Seriously.
Ho Ho Ho.

Anyways...this is the DIY wreath I did last year.
Its sparklyness makes me warm and fuzzy each time I open our front door.
Yes, warm and fuzzy.
Kind of like Jackson.

It's not much, but we are the only ones on our block with lights!
The North End needs to get a tad more festive in my opinion.

And last but not least, here is our Christmas card.
Thank you to all of our family and friends for your love and support. We are so thankful for you and look forward to all that God has planned in 2012!
Merry Christmas,
Love, Charity and Chris

The art of sleeping together

For you couples out there, you will know what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the fine art of sleeping with your spouse.
{yes, it's an art}.

As you can see from the photos above, there are many different ways to sleep in bed with your spouse.
{I'm sure for all you "pros" out there, you have thought of many other ways to sleep besides these}

As a newly-wed (yes, a year and a half is still considered a newly-wed), and since we didn't live together before we got married, sleeping together in the same bed has taken some getting used to.
{I guess we would be considered semi-pros}

Where the art comes in, is the moving around in the middle of the night that happens in the time it takes to say "REM."
{"Rapid Eye Movement" - i.e. a deep sleep - if you don't know, now you know, and you should probably read more}.

It starts off nice and cute
Cuddling <3
Spooning <3
Kind of like the top middle photo featured above.
<3
{aww, love}

Then when it's time to really fall asleep...
In 2.7 seconds...

THE ROLL OVER HAPPENS.

The roll over that leaves one person with less covers than before.
The roll over that leaves you sleeping cheek to cheek.

You know the cheeks I'm talking about.

Like I said before, it has taken some getting used to, and I'm still not quite sure how I feel about butts touching, but I couldn't imagine waking up without the love of my life right next to me.

Even if he does hog the covers...<3

Changes at Fort St

You may have remembered me saying I had the itch to redecorate...

So, in the midst of grad school, papers, family, and friends, I finally found some time to do this!

The dining room got a face lift after this post:

And our living room got some major work done...
{no pun intended}

Before:

Kind of recently:

As of NOW:

Lovely new white couches...

A bench that I  reupholstered...

Notice the Lamp that has a different shade...

And the $40 bench that was reupoulstered...

And while I'm at it,
For those of you who hated on me changing the color of the $15 yard sale record player from the natural "redish" wood to white, too bad, I still painted it white and it looks amazing...

It went from this...

To the top left picture.
Take that.
{neiner neiner neiner}
It looks way better.
=)

Love, the Majors
And the random changes that Charity loves to make...
=)

In our neck of the woods...

School has begun, football has started and fall is here.
{and I have been horrible at blogging}
#fail

Anyways, here's a little bit of what has been going on in our neck of the woods...

Charity became a Bronco,
And is now going to grad school for Health Promotion...
And is also overseeing the Personal Training and Strength
and Conditioning Attendants with Boise State University Recreation
And she is still training.
{yeah, she's busy}

Chris has built a massive house next to the train depot
(look for the little red dot near the left top side)

Love notes have shown up randomly around our house since we don't see each other as much

Charity was voted Boise's #3 Best Trainer - Click HERE to see the article

Chris performed his first wedding
{and did an amazing job}

Charity is decorating the dining room.
Again.
More photos coming soon...

Chris decided to rebuild a bug

Jack is still the most random cat in the world...

And of course, football.

Hopefully I'll get better at updating things.
But I guess getting a Master's degree and writing 10 page papers is an ok excuse not to blog as much...
{but by God, I'm still re-decorating}

12 Step Program

Welcome Everyone to today's session of Decorator's Anonymous.
My name is Charity.
I have a Dining Room.

And now I have a black table.
Different from what's pictured.
I have a clean-lined black table that needs a place to kick off its boots.
{speaking of boots, I was just given a great pair from a girlfriend of mine...LOVE them!}

We now have a tall oak table with chairs that needs a new home.
{not our home anymore...they are getting the boot from Fort st.}

Our new black table needs companions that will never leave its side.
It needs chairs.
It needs lovely mismatched chairs and benches to partner with it so it can serve its purpose.

But here in lies my dilema.
Do I keep the table black?

Do I paint it white and paint the chairs?

Do I go mostly white?

Or mostly black?

Do I make our dining table a bed?
Come on people, get your  mind out of the gutter.
{We don't need two beds}

I'm just so torn as to how to use our new table.

I need help.
What are your thoughts?
{I've heard that admitting you need help is the first step to recovery}
